Foster and Kinship Care: Knowing Who You Are (6 hours)

This interactive class helps parents explore their own development, culture, bias, race and ethnicity, and resources. This class helps parents to support the healthy development of their children, building their self‐esteem, physical, emotional, social, and overall health as well including their racial and ethnic identity. This class acknowledges the discomfort many people feel around discussing some sensitive subjects and issues and inspires them to confront their fears and begin conversations about complications they may having with raising children/foster children, structure, discipline, race and ethnicity and their impact in society and in the child welfare system.

Instructor: Dr. Faith Allison, DHSc, ACSW
