Dr. Torence Powell was appointed unanimously by the Los Rios Board of Trustees as the next Chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District. He will begin his term as Chancellor on July 1, 2026.
Under the Senate Bill 1348 guidelines, American River College is eligible to apply for Black Serving Designation (BSI) status. This bill designates colleges in California that "excel at providing academic resources to Black and African American students." Once granted, BSI designation is valid for 5 years.
