Learn about the California Youth Leadership Corps (CYLC), a statewide learn-and-earn initiative that prepares community college students ages 18–24 to become credentialed and skilled community organizers and change agents through a community change career pathway program.
Student fellows combine academic coursework with a nine-month paid, work-based learning fellowship, where they acquire community organizing and advocacy skills through their field placements at local nonprofit organizations. The fellowship includes financial support of up to $10,000 in stipends for work-based learning placements and up to $5,000 in scholarships.
During this virtual info session, CYLC and ARC staff will share an overview of the program's mission, the Leadership and Social Change Career Pathway Fellowship, eligibility requirements, and the application process. Participants will learn how students combine academic coursework, cohort-based learning, and paid work-based learning placements to build skills in organizing, advocacy, and leadership in local community settings.
This session is intended for students and faculty who want to learn more about how CYLC supports students in developing the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to enter nonprofit and public sector roles as credentialed and skilled organizers, change agents, and leaders.
