Foster and Kinship Care: Surviving, Thriving Teens (6 Hours)Tuesday, October 13, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
Ask any parent, they will likely agree that parenting teens is not for the faint of heart. With that in mind it takes a well-prepared caregiver to survive parenting someone else's teen, especially if they have a trauma history. Trauma occurring during childhood or adolescence can have a substantial impact on adolescent development and permanently alter the way their brain functions. This course will be presented in three modules.

This class provides an overview of how trauma affects children's brain development, behavior, emotions, and relationships. Participants will learn to recognize common signs of trauma, understand the impact of adverse experiences, and explore practical, trauma-informed strategies for supporting children with compassion and resilience.

Featuring a live orchestra and a stellar, diverse cast ranging in age from 14 to 80+, the production brings the best of both student and community talent to the stage. There's also a dinner-theatre event scheduled with the four-star Oak Cafe!
