Meet Linkin: LRPD's New Therapy Canine in Training

The Los Rios Police Department (LRPD) is excited to introduce Linkin, a Golden Retriever born on February 16, 2025, who is joining the department as part of a new pilot program focused on wellness and community connection.
Linkin is owned and handled by Captain Benitez, with additional handler support from Officer Dashnaw and Officer Anderson. He is currently undergoing 15 months of therapy and facility training at DAACK Pack Dog Training in Sacramento, sponsored by the nonprofit organization 4 Paws 2 Freedom. While in training, Linkin is already participating in small group visits as part of his socialization and learning.
Since beginning this journey, Linkin has met more than 400 students and faculty across Los Rios campuses, and the response has been so paw-sitive!
Under the leadership of Chief Woo, this program marks LRPD's first-ever therapy canine initiative. Over the next year, Linkin will continue his training while building meaningful connections with our community. If you are planning a group event and would like Linkin to attend, please reach out to Captain Benitez to make arrangements.
