Journey, STEM & Veterans Programs

Federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education, TRIO SSS Journey, STEM & Veterans support first-generation students, low-income students and students with disabilities who demonstrate academic need to successfully graduate, transfer and earn a four-year bachelor’s degree.

What We Offer

TRIO Student Support Services Journey, STEM and Veterans provide in-person assistance to students at the TRIO Center located in the Welcome & Support Center building on the American River College main campus.

A familial community that supports student success through the following resources:

Academic Counselors
Connections to Tutoring
Connection to Campus and Community Resources
Educational Enrichment Opportunities

Financial and Economic Literacy Sessions
Peer Mentor Support Groups
Support to Complete College and Financial Aid Applications

Who Is Eligible?

Eligibility for TRIO Student Support Services is determined by federal regulations. To qualify a student must meet the following criteria:

1. Residency Status

U.S. Citizen; or
U.S. Permanent Resident; or
Meet the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance.

2. Generation, Income and Disability Status

Be a first-generation college student; or
Low-income individual as determined by the federal government; or
Have a documented disability.

3. Enrollment Status

Be enrolled at American River College. Plan on taking at least 6 credits per semester at American River College.
Pursuing a certificate, associate degree, or planning to transfer to a four-year institution
