The Natomas Writing Center supports all students throughout the   the writing process. Students can visit the Natomas Writing Center on a drop-in basis or schedule one-on-one appointments.

Staff will help students with:

  • understanding their writing assignment
  • brainstorming
  • outlining
  • revising drafts
  • proof reading
  • Applying MLA or APA Formatting
  • Writing Workshops

In addition to drop-in and one-on-one appointments, the Natomas Writing Center also houses the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) and Reading Across the Disciplines (RAD) programs. These programs are 1/2 unit classes that offer additional resources and support to students looking to strengthen their writing and reading skills.

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) at Natomas 

The ultimate goal of the WAC program is to develop self-reliant writers across all disciplines. Our friendly, collaborative approach engages students in their writing process in order to promote longterm confidence and success.

The program provides students with:

  • 55-minute writing conferences with dedicated faculty & staff
  • One-on-one drop-in tutoring
  • Grammar, Punctuation, Paragraph Development 
  • Support in Reviewing/Revising Drafts 

WAC classes are ½ unit classes designed to help students understand their writing assignments, plan and outline essays, revise drafts, learn to proofread and edit essays, and apply MLA & APA formats. 

Classes include: ENGWR 95, ENGWR 96, and ENGWR 306.

Reading Across Disciplines (RAD) at Natomas 

RAD classes are ½ unit classes designed to help you improve your class performance. You will learn reading and study strategies to increase quiz and test scores, make note taking simpler, and help prepare for essays.

RAD classes are structured to provide one-on-one or small group support that is individualized to best fit your needs and improve class performance.

Classes include: ENGRD 315 and ENGRD 316. 

ENGRD 315 and 316 are half-unit classes that focus on study skills, reading skills, note-taking, and test taking strategies to be applied to a class of your choosing. RAD can support you in any class or program on campus.
