Free Professional Headshots for ARC Students

The Iris Booth is a free resource for American River College students to support academic, career, and transfer goals . You can use the booth to create a professional photo for job internship and volunteer applications and networking platforms. 

This resource is part of ARC’s commitment to equitable access and student success.

What is the Iris Booth?

The Iris Booth is a self-service professional photography station that allows you to take high-quality headshots in just a few minutes. Photos are delivered directly to your student email and can be used for:

  • Handshake profiles
  • LinkedIn and other professional platforms
  • Professional virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom or MS Teams
  • Other professional purposes

How This Fits Your Pathway

ARC supports students through the Guided Pathways framework:

Explore

  • Begin building your professional identity early
  • Create a photo for your Handshake and LinkedIn profiles
  • Start developing your career presence

Prepare

  • Update your headshot for internships, resumes, and networking
  • Use your photo on video conferencing and/or virtual meeting platforms 
  • Align your professional image with your academic goals

Launch

  • Present yourself confidently to employers 
  • Use your headshot across networking platforms and professional communications
  • Strengthen your overall career readiness

Access and Availability

  • Available to all currently enrolled ARC students
  • Located in the Career Center located in the Learning Resource Center Room 162
  • Call or email to make an appointment Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (except holidays or when the college is closed)
  • One session per semester

How to Use the Iris Booth

  1. Check in using your ARC student email or ID
  2. Review and accept the user guidelines
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions
  4. Take your photos (approximately 3–5 minutes)
  5. Receive your images by email to your Los Rios gmail account

You may take multiple photos and select the one that best represents you.

If you need assistance or accommodations, staff are available to help.

Preparing for Your Photo

Students are welcome to use the booth as they are. Optional supports include:

  • Career clothing resources (coming soon!)
  • Career workshops and events
  • One-on-one support from staff

These services are available to all students.

Use Guidelines

To ensure a positive experience for all students:

Appropriate Use

  • Individual, professional-style photos
  • Respectful use of shared space and equipment

Not Permitted

  • Group photos
  • Inappropriate or disruptive content
  • Misuse of equipment

Failure to follow guidelines may result in restricted access.

Privacy and Data

  • Photos are delivered directly to your student email
  • Images are stored temporarily within the system
  • The college does not use or share your images without your consent

Basic editing tools are available and optional.

  • Upload it to your Handshake profile
  • Meet with Work Experience/Career Center staff
  • Attend workshops on resumes, interviewing, and networking
