Statistics Pathway

Choose one of the following options:

  • STAT C1000 (formerly STAT 300): Introduction to Statistics (4 units)
  • STAT C1000 (formerly STAT 300): Introduction to Statistics (4 units) and STAT 10: Support for Introduction to Statistics (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • STAT C1000H (formerly STAT 480): Introduction to Statistics - Honors (4 units)

Liberal Arts Math Pathway

Note: MATH 333 is not open to students whose majors require Calculus or Business Math.

Choose one of the following options:

  • MATH 300: Introduction to Mathematical Ideas (3 units)
  • MATH 300: Introduction to Mathematical Ideas (3 units) and MATHS 95: Support for Introduction to Mathematical Ideas (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • MATH 320: Symbolic Logic (3 units)
  • MATH 333: College Algebra for Liberal Arts (3 units)
  • MATH 333: College Algebra for Liberal Arts (3 units) and MATHS 33: Support for College Algebra for Liberal Arts (2 units) – must be taken concurrently

  • MATH 341: Calculus for Business and Economics (4 units)

  • MATH 342: Modern Business Mathematics (3 units)
  • MATH 342: Modern Business Mathematics and MATHS 45: Support for Business Mathematics (2 units) – must be taken concurrently

Calculus Pathway

STEM 5 Level

This option is for students who have passed Pre-Calculus, Integrated Math 4 (IM4), Trigonometry, or the equivalent with a "C-" or better. Choose one of the following options:

  • MATH 400: Calculus I (5 units)
  • MATH 400: Calculus I (5 units)and MATHS 60: Support for Calculus I (3 units) – must be taken concurrently

STEM 3 Level

This option is for students who have passed Intermediate Algebra, Integrated Math 3 (IM3), or the equivalent with a "C-" or better. You may take Calculus with support or one (1) course before Calculus.

  • Straight to Calculus:
    • MATH 400: Calculus I (5 units)and MATHS 60: Support for Calculus I (3 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • Prep courses before Calculus:
    • One of the following:
      • MATH 375: Pre-Calculus (6 units)
      • MATH 375: Pre-Calculus (6 units) and MATHS 75: Support for Pre-Calculus (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
      • MATH 383: Preparation for Calculus (4 units)
      • MATH 383: Preparation for Calculus (4 units) and MATHS 83: Support for Preparation for Calculus (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
    • Then:
      • MATH 400: Calculus I (5 units)and MATHS 60: Support for Calculus I (3 units) – must be taken concurrently

STEM 1 Level

      • MATH 372: College Algebra for Calculus (4 units)
      • MATH 372: College Algebra for Calculus (4 units) and MATHS 72: Support for College Algebra for Calculus (2 units) –
      • MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus (4 units)
      • MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus (4 units) and MATHS 73: Support for Trigonometry for Calculus (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
    • Then:
      • MATH 400: Calculus I (5 units)and MATHS 60: Support for Calculus I (3 units) – must be taken concurrently

Sequence of Final Four Courses in Calculus Pathway

  1. MATH 401: Calculus II (5 units)
  2. MATH 402: Calculus III (5 units)
  3. MATH 410: Introduction to Linear Algebra (3 units)
  4. MATH 420: Differential Equations (4 units)

Biology and Medicine Calculus Pathway

STEM 5 Level

This option is for students who have passed Pre-Calculus, Integrated Math 4 (IM4), Trigonometry, or the equivalent with a "C-" or better. Choose one of the following options:

  • MATH 355: Calculus for Biology and Medicine I (4 units)
  • MATH 355: Calculus for Biology and Medicine I (4 units) and MATHS 65: Support for Calculus for Biology and Medicine I (2 units) – must be taken concurrently

STEM 3 Level

This option is for students who have passed Intermediate Algebra, Integrated Math 3 (IM3), or the equivalent with a "C-" or better. You may take Calculus with support or one (1) course before Calculus.

  • Straight to Calculus:
    • MATH 355: Calculus for Biology and Medicine I (4 units) and MATHS 65: Support for Calculus for Biology and Medicine I (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • Prep courses before Calculus:
    • One of the following:
      • MATH 375: Pre-Calculus (6 units)
      • MATH 375: Pre-Calculus (6 units) and MATHS 75: Support for Pre-Calculus (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
