Event Overview
Show your ARC pride loud and proud! Thursday unites wellness, history, sustainability, athletics, culture, and music in a day packed with energy and celebration. We kick off at the Library with a look at ARC’s 70-year legacy, then move as a community to the Student Center Quad for a high-energy rally and all-day hub of activity.
Featured Activities
Wellness Walk & Library Archives Display (10:00 am)
- Starts at the Library, where the ARC Archives Display will be showcased on the 1st floor (historic photos, yearbooks, memorabilia).
- Promotional signage in the Student Center Quad all week directs students and staff to the Library exhibit.
- Culinary Arts provides hydration stations along the route.
- Kinesiology & Health Services share tips via tip cards, mini demos at hydration stations, and encouragement from faculty & student ambassadors.
- All athletics teams, student clubs, and campus employees encouraged to join in themed outfits.
- Route ends in the Student Center Quad, flowing directly into the midday hub.
Horticulture Floral Sales & Bee Project Spotlight + Sustainability Tabling (from 10:00 am, Quad)
- Floral sales supporting Horticulture programs.
- Guided talks from ARC bee researchers.
- Sustainability tabling alongside—eco-friendly practices, student-led initiatives, and ways to get involved.
Pep Rally (11:00 am, Quad)
- High-energy emcee, quality sound, and a tight program (≤45 minutes).
- Cultural performance opener (Mariachi, dance, or drumline).
- Emcee-led recognition of ARC pride across clubs, departments, and teams that joined the Wellness Walk.
- Student Voices: short reflections (1–2 minutes each) from ARC students on what “Dam Proud” means to them.
- Academic Senate & Classified Senate representatives share brief remarks, reinforcing shared governance and community pride.
- Spirit contest leader recognition and prizes.
- Unified “Dam Proud” cheer with balloon/confetti drop.
- Post-rally social with ARC Bakery baked goods and refreshing lemonade/tea, alongside floral sales, bee research, and sustainability displays.
Spoken Word: ARC Pride in Poetry
- Student and community poets perform original spoken word pieces about pride, belonging, and the ARC experience.
- A creative spotlight on student voice that ties into the 70th anniversary and Homecoming theme.
Emeritus Luncheon (Invitation-Only, hosted by LRCF)
- Honoring ARC emeritus members.
- Private archives viewing follows; ARC Foundation & Library staff available to accept archival donations.
Instrumental Jazz Concert (7:30 pm to 9:30 pm)
- Evening performance featuring ARC’s jazz ensembles.
- A perfect close to a day filled with pride and celebration.
Homecoming T-Shirts — Engagement Tie-Ins
- Hand out at the Wellness Walk starting line → instant unity for the group photo.
- Sell at floral sales, pep rally, and soccer/game events.
- Office Decorating Contest prize → winning office receives shirts for their staff.
Community Impact
- Launches Pride Day with a Wellness Walk rooted in ARC’s history, then seamlessly transitions into shared celebration at the Quad.
- Elevates wellness, sustainability, culture, and community pride as pillars of ARC spirit.
- Amplifies student voices and shared governance through contributions from students, Academic Senate, and Classified Senate.
- Strengthens alumni and emeritus ties while showcasing student talent and campus programs.
- Keeps ARC’s 70-year history visible throughout the week with signage and promotion of the Library Archives.
