Welcome to Learning Resource Center Tutoring at American River College! Our goal is to support your academic success through free, high-quality tutoring services for a wide range of subjects. Whether you are seeking help with homework, preparing for a test, or just looking to build your confidence in a class, we are here to help.
Who Can Use Tutoring?
All currently enrolled Los Rios students are eligible to use LRC Tutoring services at no cost.
What Subjects Are Available?
We offer tutoring in a variety of subjects, including but not limited to:
- Math
- English
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Psychology
- Accounting

How Does Tutoring Work?
Most of our tutoring is appointment-based. Students can schedule either 30-minute or 60-minute sessions. Students registered with DSP&S (Disability Services and Programs for Students) office may schedule up to two hours of tutoring per course per day. We also offer limited drop-in tutoring for select courses. Tutoring is available in both in-person and online (Zoom) formats.
How to Make an Appointment
There are three ways to schedule an appointment:
- Call us at (916) 484-8808 during our office hours and speak with a front desk staff member.
- Visit the LRC in person, and we will help you schedule at the counter.
- Use Penji, our online scheduling platform. There is a step-by-step tutorial video on this site to guide you.
What to Expect When You Meet with a Tutor
To get the most out of your tutoring session:
- Bring your class materials including textbook, notes, and assignments.
- Come prepared with questions or topics you would like to work on.
- Be ready to participate and engage with your tutor.
