Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) Program
CARE is a supplemental support service available through the ARC EOP&S Program for students who are single heads of households receiving CalWORKs cash aid for themselves and/or their dependents. The service collaborates with campus and community agencies to advance the development of self-responsibility and advocacy to assist, encourage, and support single parents/guardians in achieving their academic, enrollment, retention, transfer, and career goals.
Eligibility
Interested participants must meet the EOP&S Program eligibility requirements, apply to the EOP&S Program, submit a CalWORKs aid verification form, and be accepted into the EOP&S Program along with the following:
- Be at least 18 years of age or older, single parent, head of household
- Parent/guardian or child must be a CalWORKs/TANF recipient
- Attend a CARE orientation and complete the CARE contract
- Complete professional and/or personal development workshops each term of participation
- Maintain EOP&S Program eligibility
- Apply to Financial Aid and designate ARC as your home college
- Apply to the California College Promise Grant (CCPG) for American River College
Services Provided
As CARE participants, students are EOP&S Program participants receiving EOP&S services along with the following CARE-specific additional services:
- Access to the CARE support staff for personal guidance towards the successful completion of goals and academic objectives.
- Referrals to support groups, workshops, and other personal development events
- Monthly monetary CARE support services to assist with books and other educational supplies (monetary awards are dependent upon the student’s financial aid status and unmet need)
- Mid-semester and end-of-semester monetary CARE grants to assist with books and other educational supplies (monetary awards are dependent upon the student’s financial aid status and unmet need)
