Before You Apply

Important First Steps

The EOP&S Program has two open application periods during the academic year: late May/early June for Fall term participation and mid-November for Spring term participation. The application period is generally open for approximately 5-6 weeks.

When the application period is not open, interested students are encouraged to complete the “Application Interest Form” to get on the program’s interest list. Students signed up on the interest list will be notified first when the application opens up for the next open application period.

The following steps are important first steps to consider before applying to the ARC EOP&S Program:

  • Review the EOP&S Program Eligibility section to ensure you are eligible
  • Review the Mutual Responsibility Contract Agreements, as these are very important for your successful participation.
  • Apply to ARC and receive a Los Rios student ID#, if you do not already have one
  • Apply for Financial Aid and designate ARC as your home college
  • Apply for the California College Promise Grant (CCPG) for American River College
  • If you are new to the college, please review the ARC Placement information and process for placements
  • Be ready to upload a copy of your Student Education Plan (SEP) for at least one semester, showing a plan to enroll in a minimum of 12 units.
    • ARC students can meet with a general Counselor or an EOP&S Counselor to create an education plan showing a plan to enroll in at least 12 units for the semester you are applying for EOP&S participation.
  • Be ready to upload unofficial high school transcripts (if necessary to show a GPA of 2.49 or below)
  • Be ready to upload unofficial transcripts from all other colleges outside of Los Rios that you have attended (NOTE: you are also advised to send official transcripts to the Admissions Office for official course transfer evaluations)
