Continuing or Returning DSPS Students
Continuing Students
Continuing students are students who are enrolled from one semester to another. Continuing DSPS students can request Letter(s) of Accommodation(s) immediately after enrolling in courses each semester. We encourage students to provide the Letter(s) of Accommodation(s) to their Instructor(s) at or before the beginning of each semester/course to assure accommodations are provided in a timely manner. To stay active in the DSPS Program, students must have at least one contact in DSPS each year.
Returning Student
Returning students are students who have not been enrolled in one semester or more prior to the current semester and are no longer “Term Active”. Students may have to re-apply to the college if the supplemental form is no longer available in your e-Services. Once “Term Active” students may then request the Letter(s) of Accommodation(s) Online. We encourage returning students to meet with their DSPS Counselor to update accommodations or education plans if needed. To stay active in the DSPS Program, students must have at least one contact in DSPS each year.
Letters of Accommodations Request
Letters of Accommodations (“LOA”) refers to the accommodations the student has been approved for by a DSPS Counselor through the interactive process.
The form linked below is used to request student's Letters of Accommodations for their classes at American River College.
LOAs can be requested as soon as students are enrolled in a course.
Request your Letters of Accommodations Form to give to your instructor(s) as soon as you can, to inform the instructor of your approved accommodations.
It is the responsibility of ARC students to submit their LOA to their instructor in a timely manner. Instructors are not required to honor accommodation(s) requests that they were not aware of prior to an exam, quiz, or assignment.
Student Responsibility:
- Accommodations must be approved by a DSPS Counselor at American River College.
- Letters of Accommodations (LOAs) will be provided to students who are currently enrolled in classes at American River College. Waitlisted classes will not receive Letters of Accommodations. However, Letters of Accommodations will be provided to a student who is approved for an In-class Aide, Sign Language Interpreter, or Real-Time Captioner even if they are on the waitlist.
- Classes enrolled in after the submission of this form will require a new request form to be submitted for the newly enrolled classes.
- It is recommended that students see their DSPS Counselor each semester or at least once each year to stay on track. Any change in accommodations will require counselor approval.
